Organise your desk
One thing I’ve learned over the last couple of years – the hard way, I might add – is that organisation is key. It really does matter. When my desk is a total mess, I can’t function and my working day revolves around trying to find lost paper – a serious nightmare. But, when my desk is organised well, everything is so much easier. You may not believe me, but that’s fine, because now I will tell you how you can do the same. Try it out for yourself and then we’ll see who’s laughing!
1) Clear your desk and I mean CLEAR IT. That means removing the Ascis Gel Kayano from it, and all those notes which are actually just nonsense gibberish which you will never look at again. We need to start from scratch here, so make sure you clear it properly. Be harsh!
2) Now, place your laptop or computer more to one side than the other. For some reason, this helps me. I now have a small space on my right for pens and stationery, and a bigger space on the left which is ideal for my diary and a few sheets of paper to make notes on as and when I need to.
3) You’re not done. Now you need to organise a place for your mug of tea or coffee. Do this and you won’t end up sticking it in any old place. Like I said, organisation is the key!
4) We’re almost there, but not quite: at the end of the working day, you’ll need to have a quick tidy up. Put your notes face down and write the date on the back of them. Then the next day simply file them away under that date. Easy? Yes. A good solution: indeed!
